Terry Flower was born in Plymouth in the 60’s and has lived most of his life here. From an early age, he made himself toys to play with and drew scenes from films, especially comic characters and super heroes. In his teens, he attended the Collage of Art of Design and was introduced to different mediums such as clay, plaster and wood. At 16, he secured a place on a 2-year Craft and Design course but due to financial pressures, he left and went on to acquire a trade as a professional painter and decorator. Terry has also gone on to work in the care sector.

Terry has always returned to art. This included completing a Craft and Design course at Plymouth College of Art at 25 years old, specialising in ceramics/glass where he achieved a distinction. Also, during his time working in a care setting, he set-up a workshop for people with learning disabilities to introduce drawing and painting as a medium for people to express themselves.

Recently, Terry has devoted more of his time to paint and draw in his top-floor studio. He is influenced by his experiences of the people and places of Plymouth, his family and the various trades he has worked in over the years.
