How to Bury the Giant - Idea Generating Session

Photo of the Art and Energy Collective

Pop into GROW on Sunday afternoon between 1-5pm to see what the Art and Energy Collective have been up to in their week’s residency at GROW. Add to the conversation and ideas around what we can use our energy to power… both in a literal sense with the solar artworks, and in helping to shape our next mass-participation art installation as we consider How to Bury the Giant.

ABOUT ‘HOW TO BURY THE GIANT’

Carbon looms large, it is the giant of our times. Art and Energy’s new project ‘How to Bury the Giant’ creatively explores peatlands, moor, wool and mosses as inspiration and tools that will help us in the transition to a better future. Since the dawn of time mosses have sequestered carbon, transforming places where other life can thrive. Art and Energy invite you to join them to explore ideas and textile techniques for creating a mass-participation interactive moss-like textile artwork.

PART OF A YEAR-LONG SERIES OF RESIDENCIES AND CULTURAL EVENTS
This event is part of a year-long series of pop-up residencies and cultural events working with partners to experiment and explore the building, its surroundings, heritage and looks to the future in terms of sustainability, inclusion, food and drink, grassroots arts, music and culture.  The top floors have recently been converted into studios, which are now creative home to painters, audio artists, printmakers, installation and socially engaged artists.
