FROM RAGS TO RICHES - WITH BEVERLEY ROACH + GUESTS

Join artist Beverly Roach, and collaborators Vivienne Spencer and Beth Heaney to work with the artists to create, play and explore the practices of painting, charcoal drawing, printing, dyeing and weaving. All materials are natural, upcyled, found or from the Plymouth Scrapstore.

This event is part of Beverley Roach’s residency at Grow Plymouth from Tues 7 to Sat 11 November where she will be using the foyer as a studio. Some of Beverley’s work will also be on show on the Saturday.

ABOUT BEVERLEY ROACH
Born in 1966 in Yorkshire, Beverley moved to Hampshire for University, and graduated with a BA(Hons) in fine art painting from Winchester School of Art in 1989. After studying on a postgraduate diploma course in art therapy, at St Albans college of Art and Design, she worked in various roles within secondary education, and community engagement projects, before training as a secondary teacher of art and design in 2010. While recently studying on an MA in painting at Plymouth College of Art, her painting has developed in new areas of expanded painting and installation.  Find out more on Beverley’s Website and Instagram.

PART OF A YEAR-LONG SERIES OF RESIDENCIES AND CULTURAL EVENTS
This event is part of a year-long series of pop-up residencies and cultural events working with partners to experiment and explore the building, its surroundings, heritage and looks to the future in terms of sustainability, inclusion, food and drink, grassroots arts, music and culture.  The top floors have recently been converted into studios, which are now creative home to painters, audio artists, printmakers, installation and socially engaged artists.
